Can I use tap water for hydroponics?

Clean water is absolutely essential for plant life. Tap water often contains sodium, chlorine, and other dissolved solids. These aren’t necessarily harmful to humans, but they can be detrimental to plants and even your hydroponic system! Unfiltered tap water can lead to damage to plant roots, a slow in growth, calcium and salt deposits in your hydroponic system.

What are the best hydroponic water filters?

Reverse osmosis is the most effective means of filtering your water, and can reduce your PPM by 99%. This is a method where water passes through two filters, one being a sediment filter, and the other being a semi-permeable membrane for tiny particles.

Other methods of purifying water include dechlorinators and sediment filters, electrolyzed water systems for commercial growers, and water conditioners and solutions.
