Humidity Packs

Just what are humidity packs? These are chemicals employed in closed containers in order to keep the relative humidity (RH) within a controlled range. They are composed of pouches that are small in size and they will house a mixture of salts and water.

To store weed generally the range that is recommended for relative humidity is 59-63%, however, it is common knowledge that some can be stored in ranges as low as 54% while others can go as high as, or higher, than 64%. 

Take a container of weed and place a 2-way humidity pack on it, this is great as it will respond to the humidity level in the container and of the weed and release moisture from the packs or remove too much humidity from the container depending on the plant’s needs. However, each pack that you get may not both release or absorb the humidity as it is needed, some will only do one of these things or the other.

It is paramount to keep the humidity level constant as it will cause the plant to retain all of its goodness and also stop it from becoming too dry or mouldy. It is considered good practice and it is just plain common sense to use humidity packs if you are keeping your marijuana rather than only storing the flower in a bag that is plastic- which harkens back to the early days of pot growing.

As people used to be unaware of how important it was to store their weed, there were no systems in place, however, today most growers and users of marijuana are aware of the importance of proper storage methods.

Choose a pack that maintains the correct RH levels as they have a variety of humidity strengths and sizes. The more weed you store the larger you should go with your container and you will need a bigger pack. These generally will last up to 2-4 months in an air-tight container.
